A ring doorbell offers extra security without having to buy an expensive security system. I was worried that I would not be able to install it myself. However, I found a great video from Ring that shows exactly how to wire a ring doorbell.

The wired ring doorbell is much better in my opinion because you can fit and forget all about battery replacement. As I said before, fitting it yourself is not that complicated, let me show you how to wire a ring doorbell.
How to wire a ring doorbell in easy steps
The ring doorbell wired is powered by electricity through a wired doorbell system or a power supply. It is powered through a doorbell transformer.
Locate your current transformer and make sure it comes with the following specs – 10-24 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 10-40VA. It is usually located in an area that is out of the way near the doorbell chime. If you are not sure where it is check the attic, closet or electrical box.
Ring recommends that you install a hardwired transformer if you do not have a compatible system. If you have a compatible system you may use the included ring plug-in adapter.
If you ring your current and the doorbell chimes, great, that is good news. Make a note of the location of the chime.
The ring doorbell is powered by electricity, therefore, before beginning the wiring process go to the breaker box and disconnect the power to the doorbell system.
You can turn off all or you can turn each off one at a time and ring the doorbell to see which one of the switches is connected to the doorbell circuit.
Now that the power is off and it is safe to work on the hardwired doorbell, it is time to install the jumper cable included as part of the product in the doorbell chime.
First remove the cover and loosen the terminal screws marked front and trans with leaving the connected wired inplace and connect the jumper cable to the two terminals. Then tighten the screws and replace the cover.
Now it is time to replace your existing doorbell cover. Use a drill to remove the cover and disconnect the connected wires, make sure the wires do not retract into the wall.
Get your ring doorbell and remove the faceplate by pulling from the bottom side while you gently push on the glass. Use the ring doorbell as a template and mark the screw hole locations on the wall.
If you are installing of brick, stucco or concrete use the quarter-inch masonry bit provided to drill holes in the wall then insert the supplied anchors. If the wall is wood you do not have to use the anchors.
Next, connect the doorbell wires to the ring doorbell. Loosen both terminal screws on the back then loop the doorbell wires around each one. Tighten the terminal screws to secure. If the wires happen to be too short attache the wire extenders included as part of the pack.
Now it is time to connect your ring doorbell to the wall. Feed back the excess ware back in the hole in the wall. Get the included long mounted screws from bag ‘A’ and use them to mount the ring doorbell on the wall.
You are almost there, switch on the breaker switch you previously turned off and allow power to reach the ring doorbell. It may take a few moments for the ring doorbell to switch on. You will know it is ready when it lights up.
Once power is on, reattach the faceplate and secure it with the special security screw from bag ‘B’. Insert the security screw in the bottom of the ring doorbell and tighten it.
Now you can open the ring app and start the set-up process. Let me know if you want me to show you how to set up the ring app.
